A Speck in the World

The other day I was doing research for a project and I needed to look up the current world population which led me to the World Population Clock.

The number is currently a little north of 7.4 billon. The rate at which it was increasing is what truly astonished me.

I knew that there is rapid population growth in our current world but seeing it in this diagram was eye-opening. The number kept going up and up.

I suddenly realized how small I am on this planet. Let alone the world.

Plain and simple there are a lot of people.

All with different ambitions.

All with different thoughts.

All with different experiences.

It can be really intimidating when you think of how massive the world actually is.

On the other hand I realized how little others’ opinions or thoughts of you really matter.

If one person does not like you, who cares! There are 7 billon people in the world!

Also, even though I am a speck in the grand scheme of things, I know I can make a positive difference in the world.

Although you may not be able to help 7 billon people, I believe if you make even one person’s life on Earth better then you were successful.
